Lack of electricity is kiling our business- Residents

Residence of Alied Street along Tipa in Lagos state have scored the
federal government low on power supply.
Speaking to some residents of the street, they believe the government
is not doing enough to provide electricity, while business owners in
the area cry out on the effect it has on their business.
"It is affecting our business, all our customers are leaving us
because when there's no light, we can't finish up on time" Adebayo
Semiu, a Fashion Designer lamented!
"The amount we spend on fuel kills our business because at the end of
the day, there is no profit" Semiu added.
While another residence Mr. Lekan said the light is going from bad to
worse, quoting him he said "It has been bad and since February now, it
has been a problem getting PMS(Petrol) and PHCH is not helping
situation. I can't quantify the cost of lost, one is incurring"
"I can't imagine somebody who works and your turnover is ,60,000 naira
and you pay for electricity utility service and at the end of the day
you still have to pay to fuel your generator and you still have to pay
your children's school fees and workers salary. I mean it's really
bad". He added.
Mr. Lekan also advised the government not to politicize the supply of
electricity."Until our government is sensitive enough to stop playing
politics with all these fundamentals, except that, I don't see how the
situation will improve, I don't see how the citizens of this country
will not take laws into their hands at a particular point, because it
is getting worse"
Meanwhile a banker, James Iroh said the Federal Government should be
given more time as the privatization process has began and every
process has a time frame."I think the government has taken a bold step
to privatize the electricity and give it to the expert so that we can
see if the public private partnership can work out; because if we
don't try, we won't know where we are heading to"
Adding that "One or two years is enough to evaluate because for us to
achieve what we want, a lot has to be done and if done with sincerity,
we would achieve a lot"
