$2.1 billionDasukiGate Arms Deal:ex-Governor Ladoja received N100million - Accord Party

Rashidi Ladoja

The Ibadan based political party, Accord Party, on Friday, confirmed that they received N100 million from a former chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Peoples Democratic Party, Tony Anenih, before the 2015 polls.

The confirmation which was made known in a letter addressed to the chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Ibrahim Magu and signed by the national secretary of the party, Nureni Adisa, stated that Accord Party got the funds through its national leader, Rashidi Ladoja, the party’s governorship candidate in Oyo State.

The money received by the party, is from
a $2.1 billion arms fund, which was meant for the purchase of arms to equip the Nigerian Military, for the fight against Boko Haram militants, in the Northern part of Nigeria; but, the money for the arms deal was allegedly diverted by Sambo Dasuki, the former National Security Adviser to the former president, Goodluck Jonathan.

Mr. Anenih, who is one of several top politicians accused of receiving payments from the $2.1 billion arms deal fund, denied being a beneficiary of the money, explaining that every amount he disbursed to Individuals, groups, and or political parties, was instructed by former President Goodluck Jonathan.

In the letter released by Accord Party, titled, “Release of One Hundred Million by Chief Tony Anenih”, Mr. Adisa, confirming the payment of the funds, said, “We confirm that the sum of One Hundred Million Naira was given to the party through our leader after series of meetings between the leadership of ACCORD and Chief Tony Anenih in preparation for the 2015 general elections,” the letter stated.

The Accord party who didn’t have a Presidential candidate during the 2015 election, pointed out reasons that led to the release of the N100 million to its party leader, Mr. Ladoja; “There was need to support the presidential candidate of PDP since ACCORD had no presidential candidate.

The need to ensure that peace was maintained to enhance peaceful movement during periods of campaign, elections and after the elections.”….Adding that, “the money was used for the purpose stated.” Mr. Adisa said.
